William J. King, Jr., beloved son, brother, and uncle, passed away unexpectedly on October 7, 2026, in Naples, Florida. Born on March 30, 1954, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Bill leaves behind family and friends who will remember him for his intelligence, independence, curiosity, and quiet devotion to his family.
The beloved son of Jean D. King and the late William J. King, Bill was a cherished member of his family. He is survived by his mother, Jean King; his sister, Pam Gertie (Jim); his brother, Greg King (Jean); and his nieces and nephew, Grace Farmiga (Ted), Alexis Thompson (Mike), Caroline King, and Danny King.
Bill was a graduate of Temple University, earning his degree in 1976. He went on to receive his Juris Doctor from Duquesne University in 1979 and began his legal career in Philadelphia. He later established his own law firm in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Bill was an active member of the Rotary Club of Harrisburg and served on the board of the Salvation Army of Greater Harrisburg, contributing his time and talents to organizations that served others.
Bill found great joy in the outdoors and treasured his time boating and swimming at Lake Wynonah, Pennsylvania. A naturally capable and resourceful man, he had a gift for working with his hands and seemed able to fix just about anything. Bill valued his independence and was comfortable living life on his own terms. Though he never married or had children, he held a special place in his extended family as a son, brother, and uncle. His knowledge, helpful nature, and willingness to lend his skills will be remembered by those who knew him. He possessed a dry sense of humor and had a way of showing his love not only through words, but through his actions and the dependable presence he offered to those closest to him.
Fourteen years ago, Bill moved to Marco Island, Florida, to live with his mother, becoming her constant and devoted companion as she grew older. His presence was a testament to his deep love for family and the importance he placed on being there for those he loved. In his later years, he also enjoyed evening walks with his neighbors on Marco Island, finding companionship in the simple pleasures of daily life.
His passing was sudden and unexpected, leaving a void in the lives of those who loved him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
