Alvin "Vin" J. Tighe Jr.

Alvin J. Tighe Jr., known to everyone as Vin, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on September 3, 2025 at age 82. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at 4:00 PM at St. Peter and St. Paul Episcopal Church on Johnson Ferry Road, Marietta, Georgia.

Vin grew up in New Orleans and attended LSU, and later Georgia State University for graduate school. He then served his country in the United States Army in Vietnam. After, his professional life was spent with Grady Memorial Hospital, AID Atlanta, and, later, as a devoted Meals on Wheels volunteer. His career and volunteer work reflected a lifelong commitment to helping others and serving his community.

Vin was an avid tennis player and captain with ALTA, a passionate gardener, and a curious traveler who explored the world with his wife and son.

He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-two years, Ronda Tighe; son, Bryan (Laurie) Tighe; granddaughter, Aria Tighe; sister, Bridget (Emmett) Doerr; sister-in-law, Stephanie Tighe, and extended family including many nephews, nieces, godchildren and friends to cherish his memory.

Vin was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Alvin Tighe and his brother, Blair Tighe.

He was dearly loved by all of his family and friends, and his warmth, humor, and generous spirit will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.
