

Andrew Stephen Gravesen (Andy) of Atlanta, GA, passed away on Sept. 8, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He was born and raised in Jacksonville FL, on May 31, 1950. He is predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Virginia (Strickland) Gravesen. He is survived by his son, Jonathan Garrett Gravesen of Atlanta, his sister and brother-in-law, Sharon & Robert Constantine of St Petersburg, FL, and 2 nephews, Jason Constantine of Arlington, VA and Ian Constantine of St Petersburg, FL, as well as many extended family members. Andy attended Wolfson High School (1968) in Jacksonville, FL, and graduated from University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 1972. He spent 39 years in the insurance industry, primarily as an underwriter. He began his career with Reliance, moving on to The Hartford, Home, Fireman’s Fund, Premier Underwriting Managers and Affiliated FM from which he retired on Oct. 31, 2012. He was devoted to living in the present while still maintaining his friendships from earlier years in school and his various workplaces. He was also affectionately know as Old Man G (OMG) to Garrett’s friends to whom he was known to give time, encouragement, advice, a home away from home and love. He will be remembered for his exceptional wit, his keen sense of humor, his integrity and his willingness to help others. He will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at H.M Patterson & Son, Canton Hill Chapel, with the Rev. John Foster officiating.
