July 5, 1960 – April 28, 2026
Andrew Todd Smith Sr., lovingly known to so many simply as “Todd,” passed away suddenly on April 28, 2026, at the age of 65. A devoted husband, proud father and grandfather, loyal friend, and man of deep faith, Todd lived a life defined by love, generosity, laughter, and unwavering devotion to the people he cherished most.
Born on July 5, 1960, in Athens, Georgia, Todd was the beloved son of Nancy Allen Smith and Pierce Smith, both of whom preceded him in death. He is now reunited with them in eternal peace.
Todd is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Melina Bradley Smith, with whom he built a beautiful life centered on faith, family, and enduring love. He was an incredibly devoted father to Samuel Preston Smith, Andrew Todd Smith Jr., and Natalyn Rose Smith, and a proud father-in-law to Madison Eiss Smith. Few roles brought Todd more joy than being “Grandpa" to his treasured granddaughter, Scarlett Drew Smith, who brought immeasurable light to his life. He is also survived by his brother, Allen Smith, along with countless extended family members and dear friends who loved him deeply.
Todd spent most of his childhood in Atlanta after moving there at the age of six, growing up in the Buckhead area. He attended St. Pius X Catholic High School, where he formed lifelong friendships that remained some of the greatest blessings of his life. Many of those close friends continued alongside him into college at Georgia Southern University, creating bonds and memories that lasted decades.
A proud Southerner through and through, Todd was a passionate fan of SEC football. Raised a devoted Georgia Bulldog fan, he later earned his degree from the University of Alabama and proudly embraced Crimson Tide football as well. Saturdays in the fall were sacred to Todd, but nothing compared to the joy he felt watching his sons play football. Those years spent on the sidelines cheering them on were among the happiest of his life, especially as Preston continued his football career into college.
At just 18 years old, Todd began what would become a proud 23-and-a-half-year career with Delta Air Lines. His work allowed him to travel the world, and he loved sharing stories of the remarkable places he experienced — from Moscow to Tokyo to Santiago, Chile, and beyond. His years with Delta shaped many adventures and friendships, and he carried immense pride for the company and the life it helped him build.
Todd appreciated life’s finer things, yet remained humble, grounded, and deeply kind-hearted. He found beauty in simple moments: good music, football Saturdays, fireworks on the Fourth of July, time at the farm, and being surrounded by family. Through Melina’s large and loving family, Todd gained numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews who adored him. “Uncle Todd” was often the favorite — always the first to load the kids onto the four-wheelers, always present for celebrations and milestones, and always eager to make others smile. He loved the Fourth of July not only for the fireworks, but because he joyfully claimed it as “the best birthday celebration anyone could ask for.”
Music was one of Todd’s lifelong loves. The sounds of 1950s, 60s, and 70s rock and roll were never far away, and Jimmy Buffett held a special place in his heart. “A Pirate Looks at Forty” became more than just a favorite song — it was the lullaby he lovingly sang to his children when they were young, a memory his family will forever treasure.
Faith was the cornerstone of Todd’s life. He found profound comfort and purpose in the Episcopal Church and lived his faith quietly but faithfully through service and compassion. He completed the Education for Ministry program and served as a lay minister within his church community, offering encouragement, wisdom, and kindness to all who crossed his path.
Todd will be remembered for his warm heart, quick wit, steadfast loyalty, and the way he made people feel loved and valued. He never missed an opportunity to show up for the people he cared about. Whether as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, mentor, or friend, Todd gave his whole heart.
Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void, his legacy lives on in the family he adored, the friendships he nurtured, and the countless lives he touched with his generosity and love.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A reception will be held immediately after the service in the parish hall.
