

Anne “Dee” Conard Thompson of Canton, Georgia, died peacefully on December 25, 2024 surrounded by her family. She was 81 years old. Dee was born in Atlanta, the younger of two daughters born to Adelaide Fleming Conard and William Walter Conard. Dee attended Northside High School.
Dee touched many lives with her creativity, her sense of adventure, and her amazing cooking skills. She had a dry sense of humor and a keen eye for beauty. Dee worked as a nurse at Piedmont Hospital in the 1970s and sold commercial real estate in the 1980s. In the 1990s, she developed a passion for genealogy that stayed with her for the rest of her life. She amassed a remarkable collection of reference materials and became a recognized expert in the families of Bladen County, North Carolina. Dee devoted her time to several genealogical societies and took great pride in securing and donating books to libraries across Georgia and North Carolina.
Dee was the beloved wife of the late Robert LeGrande Thompson of Atlanta for 44 years. She was proud parent to Valerie Thompson Dowling (Don) of Canton, GA; Lori Anne Fleming of Seattle, WA; Jennifer Thompson Katter (Steve) of Canton, GA; US Army Major Dixon "Bo" Conard Reeves of Canton, GA; and Robert LeGrande Thompson, Jr. (Elizabeth) of Woodstock, GA. She is survived by her sister Wynn Conard Henderson, of Atlanta, GA, and seven loving grandchildren, Shannon Daniel, Kathryn, Robert III, Owen, and Haley Thompson, and Isabelle and Conner Reeves, as well as countless friends.
A private viewing will be held for Dee at H.M. Patterson & Son Canton Hill on January 6th and she will be buried at Georgia National Cemetery the following day. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Atlanta History Center.
