On the evening of Tuesday, August 24th, 2021, Anthony Newton-Dixon, “Tony”
passed away peacefully at his home in Marietta, GA. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne, one daughter and son-in-law, Naomi-Jane and Christian, one grandson, Adrian, one sister Pamela and brother-in-law Bill, and his dear furry friend, Buckley.
He was a loving husband, father, grandpa, brother, and friend.
Tony was born in Stapleford, Nottingham, England on June 4th, 1938 and after receiving a marketing degree, became an advertising executive with Harlech Television which led to meeting Yvonne, a Stewardess with Britannia Airways from Tynemouth, England.
Tony and Yvonne were married in1969 and flew to Rhodesia “Zimbabwe” to start their married life in Africa. They later moved to Cape Town, South Africa where their daughter, Naomi was born. They spent fifteen years creating their own African curio/art business before returning home to England. In 1984, they moved to Atlanta, Georgia and successfully created Thames Valley Antiques.
Tony, more than anything lived life to the fullest, always ready for a party! He loved bow ties, candles, dancing, traveling, boating, and having a “Jolly good time”. He had a wonderful command of the English language and was known by Yvonne as her “Henry Higgins”.
His sense of humor got him through a long and happy life which included 52 years of marriage.
Tony was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia in July, 2018.
He will be so dearly remembered and missed.
