Tony was born in Silver Creek, NY on November 6, 1930. He was a natural athlete and lettered in 4 sports in high school. Tony graduated from Clarkson College of Technology in 1953 where he earned a BBA, played quarterback on the football team, and was crowned King of the Ice Carnival.
After graduation Tony began a career in the Army that spanned 30 years with over 13 years on airborne jump status and culminated with his retirement as a full Colonel. Notable assignments included two tours with the 101st Airborne Division, 7th Corps, 5th Special Forces Group in Vietnam, the Airborne Test Board at Fort Bragg, Battalion Commander in the 2nd Infantry Division (on the Korean DMZ), Department of Army staff at the Pentagon, and the 18th Airborne Corps G-6. Following his career in the military Tony worked for Lockheed Martin as a systems engineer.
Tony loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He spent time coaching all four of his sons in various sports when they were young. Tony was also dedicated to his church and served as the head usher at the Catholic Church of St. Ann. Tony was an avid golfer and continued to have great scores up until his stroke in 2016.
Tony is survived by his four sons: Joe (Mary) of Tucson, AZ; Paul of Savannah, GA; Chris (Tina) of Dalton, GA; and Mike (Diane) of Woodstock, GA. Other survivors include his six grandchildren: Dakota of San Diego, CA; Natalie of Los Angeles, CA; Nicole and Emily of Woodstock, GA; and Aidan and Anthony of Dalton, GA. He was preceded in death four months ago by his wife of 59 years, Patricia F. Scibilia.
Visitation will be held 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm, Wednesday, October 24th at H.M. Patterson & Son Canton Hill Chapel, in Marietta. Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 pm, Thursday, October 25th at the Catholic Church of St. Ann on Roswell Rd. in Marietta. Interment with full military honors will be held at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA at 1:30 pm, Friday, October 26th.
