OBITUARY
The sun first rose on the life of Arthur Carmine Williams’ on June 22, 1941. He was the first son born to the late Arthur and the late Mary Williams. With the setting of the sun, on Friday, June 4, 2010, after a very short and courageous battle, he entered into eternal rest at Kennestone Hospital, Marietta, Georgia.
Arthur’s christian experience began as a young man who attended Newman Memorial United Methodist Church in Brooklyn, New York, where he attended Sunday School and church along with his family members. After relocating to Marietta, Georgia, he began his membership at the Cascade Methodist Church.
His early education began in the New York City public school system in Brooklyn beginning at P.S. 11, P.S. 9 and from Boys High School where he graduated in 1959. He furthered his education by taking courses in financial and administrative services, also in New York City.
After graduating from high school he began employment by working in the banking industry for a few years. In 1961 he began his career with the United States Postal Services in New York City from which he retired in 1991 in their accounting department after 30 years of service.
On August 1, 1964, he was united in Holy Matrimony with his loving and devoted wife, Myrna Rita Johnson. From this blessed union came one daughter, Lisa. Arthur was a most loving and devoted husband and an endearing father.
Arthur was a man with many aliases, aka Brother, Uncle Brother, to his grandsons he was Papa. He will always be remembered at his grandsons sporting events as “Papa” to the parents and kids. Some of his friends and co-workers called him Artie. To some of his old buddies, he is known as Moey. To his wife - “Sweet Art“. His alliance was strong and passionate.
He was a lover of life who enjoyed gardening at home, traveling extensively, gambling, giving lavish parties for his friends, and one of his most well-loved interests was watching the stock market with an “eagle eye”.
His most cherished possessions were his wife, his daughter, his dear sister, Katie, and his grandsons, Brendon and Christopher who gave him so many proud and joyous moments. His loyalty was unsurpassed. His generosity goes unspoken.
Arthur was also preceded in death by his eldest sister, Mary Woodward, his brother Robert (Bobby) Williams, and his daughter, Tyra Williams.
Forever to cherish his memory he leaves to mourn his wife, Myrna Rita, one daughter, Lisa Ashby, one-son-in law, Samuel Romell Ashby, two grandsons, Brendon and Christopher Ashby, one sister, Katherine Tyler, his mother-in-law Leardis Wingfield, three sisters-in-law: Ola (Pee Wee) Walker, Merle Williams, Brenda Stewart: four brothers-in-law, Tyler, James, Tyrone and “Skip”. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many dear and loving friends.
