

Barbara LaMarr Foster McPherson, beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Great Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend. A descendant of several Pioneer Cobb Families and a lifelong resident of Cobb County left this life on August 19, of 2017. Mrs. McPherson, 89 years young was the daughter of Willam Kimsey Foster and Comerdell Spinks Foster Priest. Mrs. McPherson was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church for 73 years where she first attended at the age of 16.
During the 1960’s and 1970’s she was instrumental in relocation the church from its original location on Post Oak Tritt Road to property on Johnson Ferry Road. The property was donated to the church by Mr. McPherson’s Grandparents.
Mrs. McPherson was an avid Genealogical Researcher. She was a member of multiple organizations including the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Daughters of the American Revolution, the Jamestown Society, Colonial Dames, Founders and Patriots, Granddaughters of the United Daughters, United States Daughters of 1812, and the Hugvenots Society of the Founders’ of Manakin in the colony of Virginia, GA Branch.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, James N. McPherson. She is survived by their 5 children, Sherry Rakestraw (Paul) of Canton, Julia McPherson of Kennesaw, Van McPherson (Lynn) of New Kent, VA, Laura Garrison (Greg) of Roswell and Keith McPherson (Rhetta) of Marietta.
Along with 11 Grandchildren, 19 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Grandchild, 3 Step Grandchildren, and 8 Step Great Grandchildren. Mrs. McPherson is survived by one brother, two sisters, one brother-in-law, one sister-in-law, two Aunts, several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at H.M. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, 1157 Old Canton Road, Marietta, GA 30068 on Tuesday, August 22nd from 3pm-5pm and 6pm-8pm. Funeral Services will be held at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 1770 Johnson Ferry Road, Marietta on August 23rd at 2:30pm. Burial to follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Post Oak Tritt Road.
Flowers may be sent to the funeral home or in lieu of flowers, a memorial may be sent to Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.
