Betty H David

Betty Huguley David, age 86 of Marietta, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2024. She was born in 1937 to the late Vivian and Columbus Huguley. Betty graduated from The University of Alabama with a degree in Education. She was retired from Dickerson Middle School where she served as the 7th grade Science Teacher. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Bibbie Tucker.

Betty is survived by her husband of 62 years, Bobby Ray David; her children, Ray David, Coleman David and Catherine David McKemie (Clay); five grandchildren: Madison McKemie, Payton McKemie, Andrew David, Abigail David and Aaron David; sister, Shealy Lynn.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and amazing friend to so many in the community. She was involved in her church, neighborhood and always giving back to others around her. She started the swim team in the Gant Quarters Millbrook Farm neighborhood and cheered her kids and the team onto many victories under her leadership. She volunteered and orchestrated and ran events at East Valley Elementary, East Cobb Middle and Wheeler High Schools where her kids were attending. She was a longtime member of the GQMF dinner club, played bridge and was an active member of the Gardenia Garden Club where she served as president from 2015-2017. She was a robust fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide and her Pi Phi sisters, affectionately known as the Fried Pies, never stopped cheering from afar. Her involvement in the community will be missed!

A Celebration of Life for Betty will be held Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 11:00 am at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church, 955 Johnson Ferry Rd, Marietta, GA 30068. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the 11:00 am service at the church. A private interment service will follow later in the afternoon.
