

Betty Wier Hobbs of Marietta, GA passed away on May 24th at the age of 87 on her birthday. She was born May 24, 1930 to Mamie Glenn Wier and Allen D. Wier in Athens, GA. She was married to William A. Hobbs for 65 years before he passed away in October of 2016.
Betty was a graduate of the University of Georgia with a degree in early childhood education. She was a member of Kappa Delta Alpha sorority.
In 1951, she married William Aaron Hobbs, a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, where he enjoyed a successful, 31-year career as a decorated war veteran and officer. She was the consummate Army wife where she supported and made a loving home for her husband and three children no matter where they happened to be living in the world at that time. She always had exciting stories to tell of her adventurous life. She was witty, warm, and funny, with a kind personality that naturally drew people to her. She was involved in ALTA tennis, belonged to several bridge clubs, and was an active member of Eastside Baptist Church. She always had an unwavering faith in her Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ.
Betty is survived by her 3 children: William Aaron Hobbs, Jr., Virginia Lee Hobbs, and Allen Wier Hobbs; 2 daughters in law: Debbie Hobbs and Tracy Hobbs; 1 granddaughter: Makenzie Hobbs; 4 grandsons: Jeff Hobbs, Josh Hobbs, AJ Hobbs, and Cole Hobbs; 4 great grandsons; 1 sister: Virginia Hedrick of Athens, GA, and nieces and nephews. She is loved greatly and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
The family will be holding visitation on Tuesday, May 30th from 10:00 to 11:30AM with Funeral Services following from 11:30 to 12:30 at Eastside Baptist Church at 2450 Lower Roswell Road, Marietta, GA.
