
He was born February 20, 1939 in Cartersville, Georgia to Ada Marie Hyde Carr and Luther Vernon Carr. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Patricia Stansberry Carr, son Jason Vernon Carr, daughter in law Mary Gina Carr and grandchildren, Tobin, Taylor, Tanner and Teresa. He is also survived by his brother, Ronny Carr and sister in law, Roberta Shaw Carr, several nieces and nephews and many cousins.
Mr. Carr graduated from O'Keefe High School in 1958 and Woodrow Wilson College of Law in 1965. He served in the United States Navy. He was employed in the retail business before opening his own company, Billy Carr Home Improvements from which he retired in 2002. He was a member of Smyrna 1st Baptist Church and belonged to Nelms Masonic Lodge #323. He served as a commissioner for the Atlanta Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He was a coach at Milford Baseball Park during the years his son was involved in baseball. He was PTA President at Norton Park Elementary School, Nash Middle School and Campbell Middle School.
For many years he was in the county music band, Country Pie and played his drums at various local establishments. He showed his woodcrafts at local craft shows for 10 years as Carr's Woodcrafts. He as his wife traveled extensively visiting lighthouses on the Gulf and East Coasts. He was an excellent photographer and enjoyed taking pictures during his trips.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends who will cherish many wonderful memories of a very special man.
Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 2:00 o'clock, Monday, December 23rd, 2013, in the Chapel of Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home, 2000 Cobb Parkway SE, Marietta, Georgia, 30060. His entombment will follow on Georgia Memorial Park grounds. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm, Sunday, December 22nd, 2013, at Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home.
