He was born in Sulphur Springs, FL on July 18, 1944. He was the baby of 13 children born to Alex and Lila Harrison. He grew up in South Carolina and graduated from Daniel High School in Central. He married Rachel Haynes in June of 1964. He briefly attended Clemson University before he and Rachel moved to Marietta, GA in 1965 to begin his employment at Lockheed Martin Aeronautical Company. He worked at Lockheed for 41 years as a Material Specialist and retired in 2006. He was a member of Sewell Mill Baptist Church. Bruce had a passion for many things and most important to Him was his personal relationship with Jesus Christ and his family. He also enjoyed gardening, yard work, the Clemson Tigers, grilling and supporting his grandchildren in whatever activity they were involved in. He was an active participant in the lives of those he loved. Bruce was a humble, kind and generous man. He was an exemplary example of God’s faithful servant. He loved his family and was the best Pepa in the world! He was so proud of his grandchildren and great granddaughter. He was loved by so many people and has taken a part of each of us with him to heaven. We do not grieve without hope as he made sure we knew we would see him again one day.
Bruce is survived by his wife of 52 years, Rachel Haynes Harrison; daughter, Amy Harrison Wade (Allen) of Marietta; son, Dr. Matthew Harrison (Ruth) of Ft Worth, TX; grandchildren: Lauran Wade Key (Tyler), Harrison Wade, and Payton Grace Wade of Marietta, Tyler Bruce Harrison, Megan Harrison and Noah Harrison of Ft Worth, TX; great granddaughter, Hadley Grace Key (who will always be “Pepa’s buddy”); sister, Roberley Jacobson (David) of Anderson, SC; brother, Delmar Harrison (Diana) of Clemson, SC and sister, Deborah Herd (J.C.) of Fullerton, CA as well as a host of family and friends.
