

Buddy Walters, 76, of Acworth, Georgia passed away on January 14th surrounded by family. Born in 1949 in Villa Rica, Georgia, son of John Alfred Walters and Macey Walters. Buddy graduated from O’Keefe High School in 1968 before being drafted to serve his country in Vietnam.
A proud member of the United States Army, Buddy served with the 11th Infantry Brigade, attaining the rank of Specialist 4. He was honorably discharged 1971, earning the Purple Heart Medal for three gunshot wounds sustained in combat, the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal.
After his time in the Army, Buddy returned home and married his beloved wife Linda in 1971. He worked as a service technician at Armalite and retired after 20 years. He then worked as a maintenance tech/HVAC tech at Bronner Bros. and then Oak Hill Farms, until fully retiring to be a Paw-Paw to his granddaughter Brianna.
Buddy is survived by his wife, Linda; children: Michael and Jennifer; granddaughter Brianna; sister Carrie, and brother Jerry. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Marvin.
A service honoring the life of Buddy will be held at Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery on Friday, January 23rd with viewing from 1-2 PM and funeral services to begin at 2 PM. Buddy Joe Walters will be laid to rest at Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery, located at 2000 Cobb Parkway South, Marietta.
