Captain Daren Higginbotham

Captain Daren Braxton Higginbotham, of the Georgia Army National Guard, passed away on September 10, 2022 at the age of thirty-four. Son of Grady Higginbotham and Irene Higginbotham, Daren was born on September 27, 1987 in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Daren received his bachelor’s degree from Southern Polytechnic State University in 2011. He proudly served in the Georgia Army National Guard for over 10 years completing his military career as a Deputy Director of Design and Pre-Construction.

In July of 2018 he met the love of his life, Kathleen “Katie” Crock and on August 21, 2021 they married. Throughout his life, Daren enjoyed serving his country, spending time with family and friends, hunting, fishing, kayaking, creating his Higgs Fishing Youtube channel and watching Florida Gators football.

He is survived by his wife, Katie Higginbotham and their dog, Oakie; his father, Grady (Deborah) Higginbotham; mother, Irene Higginbotham; his sister, Cassidy Morgan (Devon, Anna and Adam), his stepsister, Kate Hinger (Bill, Maddie, Jack and Lila), his grandmothers, Sue “Nana” Higginbotham and Becky “Mamaw” Higginbotham, his in-laws (Richard, Elaine, Joseph and Sarah Crock); and many extended family members and friends to cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Morterman “Brack” Higginbotham, his uncle, Randy Higginbotham and his great grandmother, Anna “Leuty” McCoy.

A Celebration of Life for Captain Daren Higginbotham will be held at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, Wednesday, September 28th, 2022 at 1:00pm. He will lie in state 2 hours prior to the service. Military honors will be rendered at a private ceremony for the family at Georgia National Cemetery where he will be laid to rest.
