May 20, 1940 – March 31, 2026
Cindy was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, but grew up in West Hartford Connecticut.
Cindy was the oldest of three daughters and considered herself a “Tom Boy”. She was always pulled to sports & music. She loved spending time watching her beloved Boston Red Sox.
Her family moved to Georgia when she was a junior in high school. She attended and graduated from Northside High School in Atlanta.
She then attended the University of Georgia and received her degree in Physical Geography. She met the love of her life, Henry at UGA and they married in 1961.
After Henry Graduated from The University of Georgia Veterinary School, they spent 2 years in the Army stationed in Alabama at Redstone Arsenal, then off to West Virginia for residency, finally settling in Marietta, GA with their growing family. Cindy and Henry established the East Cobb Veterinary Clinic where Cindy worked as the Bookkeeper/Business Manager until his retirement.
Cindy was very involved in the veterinary world. After her year as President of the Auxiliary to the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association, she served for many years as the Treasurer of the Southern Veterinary Medical Federation Auxiliary where she was a member of the Veterinary Drug and Alcohol Committee. As the only non-veterinarian member of the committee, it gave her a unique opportunity to work with others in the veterinarian community. As a result of her work with the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association, she was asked to be a part of a national committee that met at the American Veterinary Medical Association National Headquarters.
She was also active in her local community as President of the Town and Country Junior Women’s Club establishing the “Open Your Heart” Ball to draw attention for special education in Cobb County Schools.
She was also active as President of her Garden Club, and a member of the East Cobb Civitan Club.
Singing was her second love. As a charter member of the Cobb Community Chorus and then selected to be a charter member of the Georgia Symphony Orchestra Chorus, she loved bringing choral music to a wide variety of audiences. She was also an active member of the Grace Resurrection Church Choir and a former member of the Mt. Bethel Church Choir. In her spare time, she sang with the Summer Singers and traveled near and far to sing with other choruses.
Cindy loved to be outdoors, whether she was hiking, skiing, playing golf or watching her boys play or coach. She loved to travel the world with Henry and have new adventures every chance she got.
Cindy was always surrounded by boys which was perfect for her because she always considered herself a “Tom Boy”.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Berkeley & Ruth Whitman; her sons, David & Kenneth Bohn and her sister, Judith Whitman.
