The first time I met Carolyn, she was so loving and gracious. She adopted me as her 2nd daughter and was a calm and positive influence, for the next 54 years. I loved her as I was blessed to have Patti as my best friend.

Carolyn instilled responsibility in her daughter from an early age. She trusted us. I am not saying there were not any teenage issues; Carolyn might be a refuge, but she could put her foot down…and did!

Carolyn and Otis doted on their daughter, encouraging her to be honest, brave, and loyal and they were adamant Patti pursue education. I sat next to them at Patti’s college graduation, sharing my tissues with Carolyn when hers got soggy.

I will remember Carolyn as a loving hug. I wish I had taken the time to get many more hugs.

It is time for you to rest, Mom. You’ve earned it.
