Charlene Charl "Charl" Cheser Voige

76, of Marietta, passed away Thursday, August 14th. She was born November 25th, 1937 (Thanksgiving Day) in Chicago, Ill. where she lived until moving to Georgia in 1962. She married Ken Voige on December 22, 1956. Their son Steven was born in Chicago, and daughter Cindy and son Randy were born in Georgia. Steven and wife René and Randy and fiancée Carla live in Marietta, Cindy and husband Tony live in Illinois along with their daughter April and husband Dustin and children Tyson and Ella Rose. Her grandson Westley lives in Calif. Charl was the third oldest of six brothers and sisters. Theresa Aud, Eugene Cheser, Clarence Cheser, June Harris (husband Frank) and Geraldine Gurnett (husband Allan).

As a teenager Charl was active in Civil Air Patrol (Search and Rescue). Throughout her life as a top priority she volunteered for many organizations including CERT (Community Emergency Response Team). AT&T - Atlanta Charity Events and

Local Area Water Edge Clean Ups. She worked as a telephone operator, then a secretary and as an aid to a Chiropractor. She raised three children to successful careers who are now very involved in their communities. She has always been very athletic and played on several tennis teams and bowled, hiked and skied for many years. Traveling and cruising were also high priorities in her life. For many years she took Ballroom dance lessons which she loved to do with her husband Ken. Even during her cancer treatments and with a weak heart these past months still loved to dance. Charl also loved playing Bridge with so many of her friends with IMPS and even taught Bridge for ELM. She loved her hobbies including sewing, stitching pictures, caning antique chairs (which she gave to friends and relatives) and painting.

Charlene missed having the energy to do all the things she loved but still enjoyed cooking and relaxing on her deck observing all of God’s beautiful nature. She will be missed so very much by her close family and her many many friends. Rest in peace Charl and enjoy your Heavenly Company. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, August 25, at H.M. Patterson and Son Canton Hill at 7 PM with a visitation one hour prior. A catered reception will follow the service for all who attend. Online condolences may be made at hmpattersoncantonhill.com.
