He was the son the late William and Ara Annie Turner Duncan and one of nine children.
Charlie proudly served his country during World War II with the Army Corps of Engineers in France, Belgium and Germany. Following his military service, he worked for the Randall Brothers in Atlanta, retiring after 34 years of dedicated service.
He was married to Geneva "Tennie" McDaniel for 39 years until her passing and later to Mary Vaughan for 44 years until her passing. He is also preceded in death by his daughter, Ellen Duncan.
Charlie was a member of Sandy Plains Baptist Church, where faith and fellowship were an important part of his life. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, square dancing, and water aerobics and he will be remembered for his kindness, joy, warmth, and genuine love for people.
He is survived by his daughter, Selena Duncan Hill (Sam), Beverly Vaughan Swancy (Carter), Connie Vaughn Albigese, Doug Vaughan (Karen), 10 grandchildren: Elizabeth Hill Johnson, Allison Hill Ventura (Jeremy), Bryant Helms (Daphne), Brad Swancy, Wes Swancy (Charlotte), Drew Swancy (Emily), Tara Van Ness (Carrie), Matt Albigese, Michael Vaughn (Angelyn), Laura Hyer (Dan) and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family will recieve friends on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at Sandy Plains Baptist Church an hour prior to the 1:00 funeral service. Interment will be held at Kennesaw Memorial Park, meeting at the gravesite for a 3 pm committal service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Sandy Plains Baptist Church Building and Grounds or to Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child.
