

Charlotte Pettyjohn went to be with the Lord March 24, 2026 after a long hard battle from Alzheimer's Disease. She died peacefully at home with Myra holding her hands. She had lived with Myra a little more than three years. We wish to profoundly thank all the family and friends who have loved us and prayed for us during Charlotte's illness.
She was born Dec. 6, 1934, she graduated from Canton High School in 1951. After she married in 1955, to William J Pettyjohn, she went to work at Lockheed Martin until 1964, deep down in the tunnels she was a secretary that typed specifications for Confidential and Secret plans for airplanes. She was an exceptional wife, worker, Mom and friend. After Myra went to college she started working with Bill at their distributorship of Firestone Racing Tires, until retirement. Charlotte continued taking care of Bill until his death, continued to take care of Myra and family and friends all her life.
She was involved in community services by working the voting polls and many political events. In their later years Charlotte and Bill loved to travel, although she would travel with and for family and friends. Most importantly Charlotte was a devout Christian and lived a Godly Life everyday. She loved her Church and Church family at Bethany Baptist Church in Emerson, GA.
She was preceded in death by her parents Thad and Leona Jones, husband William J. Pettyjohn, sisters Geraldine (Glenn) Tippens, and Barbara Morris. Charlotte leaves behind her daughter Myra (Jerry) Rathbone and brother J.T. (Doris) Jones. Nieces and Nephews, Rex (Dea)Jones, Shane (Linda) Jones, Stephanie (David) Johnson, David (Diane) Tippens, Sharon (Randy) Hornbuckle, Wanda Morris, Sharon Scarborough, Stephen Scarborough, John Scarborough, Miriam (Barclay) Rushton, Susan (Larry) Farist, Gary (Linda) Seykora, Sue (Jack) Bass, and many great nieces and nephews. Charlotte also had many friends that felt like family.
