Chris Councill, age 68, of Marietta passed away on December 17, 2016. He was born in Virginia on October 16, 1948. Chris graduated from Virginia Military Institute in 1971 with a Bachelor’s Degree and then proudly served in the United States Airforce. He worked for IBM for 32 years before retiring. Chris had a passion for sailing and carpentry. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Jan Councill and his children: Daniel (Katie) Councill, Matthew Councill, Andrew (Lena) Councill, and Mallory Councill. He was Pop & Papa to Lizzie, James, Aiden, and Aubrie. He is also survived by his brother, James (Bambi) Councill and step-mother, Genie Councill. A memorial service will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, December 27 at H.M. Patterson and Son Canton Hill Chapel, Marietta. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
