Christopher John Humphreys, Jr., 52, of Marrietta , Georgia died on Septemeber 2, 2010. Known as CJ. He was born in Villanova, Pennsylvania; oldest son of the late Susanna Bennett and Christopher J. Humphreys. CJ was a resident of Marietta from the time he was eight years old until his death. He graduated from Marist High School and later attended University of Georgia. After working with a local plumbing company he formed Humps Plumbing, running the business until his death. CJ loved music and was a lifelong reader of fiction and fact. He was also an insatiable sports fan. He worshiped the Braves, the Falcons and especially the Hawks. He loved Georgia, his dog “Rebound” and his family and friends. He kept in touch with his far flung relatives and friends by email, post cards and phone. You could usually count on him remembering your birthday. For over 20 years, C.J. dealt with the after effects of a benign brain tumor with grace, courage and grit. CJ is survived by his brother, Timothy S. Humphreys, sister-in-law, Linda Orel and nieces, Lindsey and Samantha Humphreys of Boston, Mass. He leaves a sister-in-law, Lisa Humphreys, a niece, Marisa E. Humphreys, nephew, Graham C. Humphreys; Uncle and Aunt, Hugh C. Humphreys and Elizabeth B. Humphreys, and Aunt, Alice Bennett. He was predeceased in 2009 by his brother Matthew W. Humphreys. He is survived and beloved by seven, Humphreys and Bennett first cousins and a number of second cousins. Lastly, we value his long list of friends. A celebration of CJ’s life will be held on Friday, September 10, 2010. Visitation will be at 1pm, followed by a memorial service at 2pm in Marietta at H.M.
