

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Colonel (Ret.) Bobbie Gene Jackson. Bobbie was a loving husband, father, and friend, who passed away peacefully on April 7, 2025, at the age of 90.
Colonel Jackson was a distinguished military leader, born on May 22, 1934, in Stone Mountain, Georgia. His illustrious career spanned multiple decades, with notable achievements in personnel management and leadership.
Colonel Jackson's educational background includes graduating from Avondale High School, attending Georgia State University, and completing advanced military training at Air Command and Staff College, Air War College, and National Defense University. Throughout his career, Colonel Jackson held various key positions, including Chief of Consolidated Base Personnel, Education and Training Staff Officer, and Director of Personnel at Dobbins Air Force Base.
He was recognized for his exceptional leadership, earning awards such as Outstanding Junior Personnel Manager of the Year and Senior Personnel Manager of the Year in 1979, 1981, and 1983. His expertise also led him to serve as Reserve Compensation Advisor to the Director of Personnel Plans and Chief of the Personnel Division at the Pentagon, where he shaped Air Force policies and worked closely with congressional staffers to advance Air Force goals.
Colonel Jackson's military decorations include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, and several other awards for service, marksmanship, and longevity, including the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm.
Bobbie leaves behind a legacy of love and family, preceded in death by his beloved wife of many years, Betty Anne Doster, whom he met on July 5, 1953, and married on May 30, 1954, in Ringgold, Georgia.
Together, they built a life and raised their family in their Marietta home. In his free time, Bobbie delighted in a variety of pursuits, including beekeeping, woodworking, fishing, astronomy, and bird watching, showcasing his adventurous spirit and love for nature.
A true family man, Bobbie is survived by his sons Terry Lee Jackson (Christy) and Timothy Gene Jackson (Pam); daughter-in-law Becky Jackson; granddaughters, Amy Marie Aslinger (Robert), Bonnie Jean Jackson Longnecker (Michael), Rachel Anne Jackson, Lindsay Jean Croft (Adam), Blakely Terri Ray (Jason), and Karley Jackson; great-grandchildren, Kayden, Penny Lane, Malone, Luna Rose, Ella, Hazel, James, Chase, Cora, Sadie, Madalynn, Lilianna, Perry, Lottie, and Lawson; and two special nieces, Brenda and Cindy.
Bobbie is preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, as well as his son, Kenneth Anthony Jackson. He will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his family and country, his unrelenting ambition, and his creative storytelling.
A visitation for Colonel Bobbie will be held Monday, April 14, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home & Cemetery, 2000 Cobb Pkwy SE, Marietta, GA 30060. The Funeral Service will occur Monday, April 14, 2025 at 11:00 AM. Air Force Burial Honors & Committal will occur Monday, April 14, 2025 at 12:00 PM, on the Grounds of Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery.
