

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Agnes Cynthia “Cindy” Baker on May 5, 2026, at the age of 78. Cynthia was born on March 2, 1948, in Boston, Massachusetts, to the late Joseph and Irene Callaluca. She graduated from Littleton High School and was employed by Sangamon Card Company.
Cynthia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and beloved swim instructor whose kindness, patience, and encouragement touched the lives of countless students and families through her years of teaching life-saving water safety skills.
She had a passion for teaching and spent much of her life helping others gain confidence and joy in the water. Her gentle spirit, warm smile, and caring heart made her not only an exceptional instructor, but also a cherished friend and mentor to many. In addition to her work as a swim instructor, she also served as a Sunday School teacher and a Crisis Intervention Coach.
She is survived by her loving husband, Charles Baker; her two sons, Eddie Baker and Jonathan Baker, along with their spouses - Nabi Baker and Juciene Baker; and her five cherished granddaughters: Isabella, Sophia, Olivia, Coachella and Bella, who brought immense pride and happiness to her life. Cindy is also survived by her sister, Phyllis, and her two brothers, Joseph and Peter. Her love for her family was unwavering, and she treasured every moment spent with them.
Cynthia will be remembered for her compassion, dedication, and the lasting impact she made on all who knew her. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and the many lives she influenced through her teaching, guidance, and friendship.
