Daniel Shirley

Mr. Daniel Shirley, 84 of Marietta, GA passed away December 9, 2012. After his graduation from high school, he attended GA Tech, and then he served honorably in the US Air Force during the Korean War. After his service he went back to GA Tech, earning a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. Dan worked for Lockheed for several years and then he joined a consulting firm as a partner. Dan enjoyed traveling and for a time lived in Puerto Rico. One of his hobbies was boating and he served as Commodore of the Yacht Club of Vero Beach, FL. Dan was loved and liked by all who met him. Dan was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred “Mike” Shirley. He is survived by his sons, Jack Shirley (Mary), Sawyer Shirley (Lisa) and Chris Irwin (Laura), daughter, Ginger Irwin (Mary), grandchildren, Elizabeth, Danny, Peyton and Jordan Shirley and Kent Irwin and brother, Bill Shirley. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 2:00pm in the chapel of Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church in Marietta. The family requests that no flowers be sent.
