

David Alan Shannonhouse, age 71, of Marietta, GA returned to the arms of Jesus on September 8, 2023 after a long illness. He was born in Charlotte, NC November 25, 1951 to Edward Stuart Shannonhouse, Sr. and Betty May Shannonhouse Partridge. He graduated from Allerdice High School in Pittsburg, PA in 1969 and from St. Leo College with a Bachelors of Arts Degree-Human Resource Management in 1982.
David dedicated 38 years serving his country in the Air Force and Air Force Reserves. He retired in 2008 as a Master Sergeant. He spent the last 18 years of his career as the Noncommissioned Office in charge of Safety with the 94th Airlift Wing at Dobbins Air Reserve Base in Marietta, GA. He volunteered for multiple deployments, most notably, augmenting security forces at Dobbins for one year after 9/11. He stepped up again for a six month deployment in 2003 to serve alongside his daughter in Al Udeid Air Base Qatar. Being a Load Master was his first love and he convinced one of his daughters to follow that career path in the Air Force. In addition to his military career, David was a Cobb County Fire Fighter, an Instructor with the Georgia Fire Academy and SE Regional Sales Manager, Fire Protection Services for MSA, Inc.
David is preceded in death by his father, Edward Stuart Shannonhouse, Sr and his brother, Les Shannonhouse. David is survived by his mother, Betty May Shannonhouse Partridge, his wife, Mary Lou, his children – Robert (Jen), Rebecca Keown (John), Richelle Blume (Brad), Patricia Lyon (Byron), Matthew (Beth), Megan (Abbey), 20 grandchildren, two great-grand children, his brothers Stuart (Debbie), John (Leno), Paul and sister Mary Ramar (Kevan).
In his spare time, David enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He enjoyed playing “Pirates” and “Golf” on his computer and reading Stephanie Plum novels.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, November 25, 2023 at 1:00 pm -Faith Lutheran Church, Lower Roswell Road, Marietta following his Celebration of Life Service, there will be a reception at H.M. Patterson & Son, 1157 Old Canton Road, Marietta with an Honor Guard presentation.
