We all knew Douglas as an icon of "dedication". He was dedicated to his country. He was completely dedicated to his teaching. He was committed and dedicated to the love and care of his mother. And most of all he was dedicated to "his Anne". There was never anyone who loved with more committment and delight than Douglas loved Anne. In many ways, when Anne died, Douglas died.

Mr. Burch was my fifth grade teacher at A. F. Herndon elementary school. I still remember some the things he taught the young men in our class on how to be a gentlemen. My prayers are with the family during this time of your lost.

We are never really ready to accept the homegoing of a loved one Roger, but it has to be. Letting go we must do; but we can keep them forever close to us in memory. Douglas you are now with your beloved Ann in Heaven!! RIP
