Mr. Doug Halyard, age 53 of Smyrna, passed away December 16, 2011. Doug was an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan and a former 7th and 8th grade football coach at Osborne High in Marietta. He enjoyed working out at the gym and adored his grandson. In addition to his family, Doug took special care of his mother for many years. He will be deeply missed.
Doug is survived by his mother Dorothy E. Halyard; daughters Michelle Halyard of Smyrna and Amanda Vaughn and husband Steve of Mableton; brother Ron Halyard and wife Sandra of Acworth; sister Linda Key and husband Larry of Dallas; grandson Landon Vaughn; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 19, 2011 at 11:00am at the chapel of Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home with Pastor Brent Reed officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 18, 2011 from 4-6pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718
