Drade Carl Stuart, 66, of Marietta, passed away on Monday, February 4th following a courageous battle with cancer. He was a devoted follower of Christ and his life was a faithful expression of his relationship with the Lord. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
Mr. Stuart was born on October 18, 1952, in Orlando, Florida. He studied Mass Communications at the University of Miami. He moved to Atlanta in 1976. For over 30 years, he pursued his passions, successfully running his own business as a private investigator.
Mr. Stuart loved the Lord with all his heart and he always put others ahead of himself. He loved his family, his church, and playing tennis. He took such great joy from reading his Bible and teaching Sunday school for Arbor Terrace residents through Johnson Ferry Baptist Church. On Sunday mornings, he woke up early to spend time in the prayer room. He liked taking walks in Chastain and along the river. He never met a stranger and had the gift of making those around him feel uplifted and cared for. He was always ready with a word of affirmation and a carton of ice cream.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 36 years, Blair Stuart, of Marietta; a son, his “best bud”, Rush (Meredith) Stuart of London, England, and a daughter, his “favorite girl”, Ramsay (Mitch) Curry of Houston, Texas; two grandsons, Jack and William Stuart of London, England; his mother-in-law, Carol Davis of Fort Meyers, FL; two brothers, Ken (Maureen) Stuart of Tallahassee, Florida and Scott (Diana) Stuart of Columbia, TN; brother-in-law, Court (Barb) Davis; Patti Stuart of Orlando, FL; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The celebration of life service for Mr. Stuart will be held in the chapel of Johnson Ferry Baptist Church at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 7th. A visitation will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
