Edward Leon Mathieu, age 84, of Marietta, GA, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2026. Born in 1942 to Edward and Erma Mathieu, Ed lived a life rooted in family, love, and the simple moments that become cherished memories.
Ed retired from International Paper and Linpac Corrugated after many years of dedicated work. While his career was an important part of his life, his greatest joy was the family he built and the people he loved. He was an active member of his church and neighborhood. He will be remembered for the place he held in his family's hearts and the many memories they shared.
Ed was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Edward and Erma Mathieu, and his sister, Anita Schoener.
He leaves behind his devoted wife, Patti Mathieu, with whom he just celebrated 60 years of marriage. He is also survived by his daughters, Laura, Lisa, and Leslie, and their spouses. His grandchildren—Sylvie, Annabelle, Avery-Claire, Jean-Marc, William, Patricia-Rose, Julien, Jude, and Trevor—were a cherished part of his life.
Ed is also survived by his sisters, Dorothy Hammond and Elaine Passarello, along with extended family and friends whose lives were touched by him.
Though Ed is no longer with us, the love he gave and the memories he created will remain. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, October 12, 2026, at St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you consider making a donation in Edward’s name to St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church https://www.stpeterchanel.org/
