

Elsie Mae Cole, age 94, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away on June 8, 2026. She was born in 1932 to the late William and Elizabeth Wuertz. She graduated from Baylor University with a degree in Journalism. She taught in the Paulding County School system for many years before she retired from teaching at Southern Polytechnic University.
In her free time, she enjoyed walking, reading and going to exercise classes. She often participated in Bible studies and loved spending time with her family. She found great joy in attending Bible studies and spending time in fellowship with members of her church community. Along with her parents, Elsie is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Clarence G. Cole, Jr.; brothers, Joel Dickinson, Marvin “Dick” Dickinson,” and William “Bill” Wuertz and her sisters, Charlene Dickinson, Eudora Dickinson, and Eunice Moore.
Above all else in her life, Elsie Cole was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ.
She served faithfully as a pastor’s wife for many years, followed by spending her senior years as an active member of Johnson Ferry Baptist Church.
She is survived by children, Cheri (Dennis) Teague, Cindy (Walt) Forrister and Lance (Robin) Cole; grandchildren, Caleb Cole, Thomas (Bella) Forrister, Katherine (Johnny) Priest and Lindsay (Eric) Forrister-Mercado; great-granddaughter, Ember Forrister, and many extended family members.
