Elva Mae McPherson

Elva Mae McPherson, age 97, passed away January 14 at WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, GA. Born March 25, 1917, in Easley, SC, the daughter of Jerry F. and Laurenia Aiken Epps. She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice R. McPherson, in 1975. Survivors include two daughters, Martha M. Crowe and Judy M. Grancher (Roy), both of Marietta and grandchildren Cynthia C. Eganey of Franklin, TN, Steve Crowe of White, GA, Billy Wade of Acworth, GA, and Christine Wade of Kennedyville, MD, six great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Catherine E. Hensley of Pensacola, FL, and two brothers Ralph Epps of Stockbridge, GA and Jerry F. Epps of Milpitas, CA.

Mrs. McPherson worked at Kennestone Hospital during the 1950’s as an aide and later as the office assistant for Drs. W.H. Perkinson, Dr. George Hagood, and Dr. Murl Hagood until their deaths/retirement. Known by patients as Mrs. Mac, she loved her work and helping others and was a loyal fan of the Atlanta Braves. Mrs. McPherson was a member of the Paper Mill Baptist Church in Marietta.

Graveside services will be held at the Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home & Cemetery, 2000 Cobb Parkway SE, Marietta, GA, 30060, at 1:00 o’clock, Monday, January 19, 2015. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution to your favorite charity in her name.
