Carney,

I'm so sorry for the loss of your "Ernest". One of things I absolutely loved about Ernie was listening to the way he talked about you and the girls. He had so much love for his family. I liked to tease him about having 3 girls and a bunch of grandkids. I told him he started a population explosion.

When I started working at the corporate office at CHS, Ernie was my first friend. He taught and guided me through the process of recruiting. What a wonderful mentor. I loved going on the recruitment trips with him. He was always a joy to travel with. He was the definition of a true "Southern Gentleman".

My heart breaks for all who knew Ernie. He brought the best out of everyone that was around him. Happy heavenly fishing Ernie.

Ernie was a great friend and coworker. I have missed him since he retired and moved to Georgia. We had a lot of great discussions about God, guns, fishing, and Auburn football. I know that Ernie loved Jesus, and I am thankful that he is no longer ailing. War Eagle, buddy.

Ernie and I have been best friends, fishing buddies and workmates (HCA and CHS) since the 80s. Work was work but spending leisure time with him after work in Arizona, Washington state, etc., and at our favorite restaurant La Caille in Sandy, Utah, are memories I'll treasure for the rest of my life. We spent countless hours fishing and sharing stories. We fished in British Columbia, the Gulf of Mexico, Kentucky and every river in Tennessee from Crossville in the east to the Tennessee River in the west. My heartfelt sympathies and love go out to Carney, his daughters and grandchildren, siblings and other family members and friends. I'm confident that Ernie truly has found that in Heaven "A River Runs Through It". I will miss you "Bubba".

I worked with Ernie for many years at CHS. He was the absolute perfect gentleman! My heart breaks to hear of his passing, but as believers we know to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. I know one thing for sure, and that is, Ernie is somewhere sitting around the throne of grace with that precious grin of his. Rest in peace, my friend. You have earned your heavenly reward. To Carney, his children and all those who loved him, may you find comfort and peace in the beautiful memories you shared with him. God bless you ❤️

Dear Sweet Carney,
It truly was always such a blessing to see you and Ernest on Sunday mornings at Lost Mountain. Especially, in the last months when we all knew it took a huge effort on his part and yours to be there. That kind of dedication to Christ is a true testament to his character, and yours. I will miss his presence, but, look forward to yours. I will continue to pray for you as you go down this path. Carney, please know how much love you have from all of us at LMCOG. ❤️❤️ Rob and Eva

I was so sorry to hear of Ernie's passing, but am comforted in knowing he is safe and resting in the light of our Lord, Jesus Christ. I worked with Ernie for many years at CHS. He was always the perfect gentleman. I used to love the twinkle in his eye when we would discuss fishing. Ernie is one of those souls that I can say I was made better by knowing him. God bless the family, Ron Shafer
