Evelyn Viola McLendon

Mrs. Evelyn Drake McLendon, age 100, of Smyrna, went home to be with her heavenly father on Saturday February 3, 2018. She was born October 4, 1917 in Turin, GA the daughter of Edward Wesley and Blanche Rogers Drake. She retired from Lockheed Martin in 1978 with 30 years of service. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Smyrna, having joined in 1961, where she was very active in WMU, the Benevolent Society and the Senior Choir. She was also a member of the Professional Women’s Club of Smyrna. A lady that loved the Lord, her passion was caring for others and living the Golden Rule.

Mrs. McLendon was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Dennis McLendon; brothers, Roger Drake; Dr. Charles W. Drake; sisters, Sue Hickey, Dorothy Forrester.

Survived by her daughter, Cynthia Gaillard and her husband William; sister, Janie Miller; grandchildren Michele Mason, Christa Ulicny, William Gaillard, III; great grandchildren, Summer Price, Chandler Price; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday Feb. 8 at 1 PM at the First Baptist Church of Smyrna, 1275 Church Street, Smyrna, GA 30080, with Dr. Jeffrey Pennington and Rev. Phil Miller officiating Interment will follow at Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends between the hours of 11 AM until 1 PM Thursday at the church.
