

Frances “Frankie” F. McCain, 94, passed away on July 24, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty one years, George C. McCain. She is survived by her son, Bruce McCain, grandson, Travis McCain, granddaughters, Laurie McCain and Amy Hesse, son, David McCain and daughter-in-law, Lorene McCain.
Frankie was born in Atlanta, Georgia, the daughter of Grover and Onice Fitzgerald on September 17, 1921. She grew up in Adair Park where she excelled in playing tennis. Carlton was the love of her life who she met through her best friend, Laura Jean McCain. Frankie was an avid bowler and bridge player. She excelled in both interests, still playing and often winning high game in league bowling and bridge well into her 94th year.
As her sons grew, Frankie was actively involved in her sons’ lives, first as a Cub Scout den mother and later by supporting them in high school athletics. Frankie was a charmer and was the life of the party.
Frankie was a career federal civil servant for over 20 years. Her first job was with the Internal Revenue Service and later retired from the Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Agency. She excelled in her work and retired a grade eleven. Frankie and Carlton lived most of their retirement years at their place on Lake Burton. After Carlton’s passing, Frankie spent the last thirteen years of her life in the loving care of David and Lori in East Cobb.
Frankie was a loving wife and mother. She was a good friend and neighbor who leaves behind many good memories with all of us. Her charm, wit, and laughter will remain with us always. A visitation will be held at H.M. Patterson and Son Canton Hill Chapel, Marietta for family and friends on Friday, July 29, 2016 from 7:00 until 9:00 pm. Interment will be at Westview Cemetery on Saturday, July 30 at 11:00 am.
