Franklin R. Harbison, 85, died in Woodstock, GA on October 11, 2014. He is survived by his wife, Jean Fedorovich Harbison of Woodstock, GA and his children, Susan Mayne of Marietta, GA, Bruce Harbison of Boone, NC, and Lisa Brautigam of Seattle, WA, their spouses, as well as 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Born in Chicago, IL, Frank grew up in Paramus, NJ where he met his life-long love Jean as they twirled around the skating rink. After a stint in the Army that brought them to live in GA for a short time, Frank followed his father into the construction industry, becoming a heavy equipment (crane) operator in NYC, where, among other jobs, he was part of the team that excavated the foundation for the World Trade Center twin towers. A hard working man, Frank raised his family in Westwood, NJ. They enjoyed vacations and day trips that almost always centered around swimming, boating, and his passion for fishing. The Harbisons retired to FL where they lived on the water in Treasure Island and Frank gardened, met buddies “at the bridge”, bought himself a fishing boat and explored the waters of the Tampa/St. Pete area; they also took trips with dear family friends to explore some of our national parks and wonders. Frank and Jean returned to GA several years ago, to live closer to their daughter. A celebration of Frank’s life will be held at Susan’s home on 11/15 at 3 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, in memory of Frank, would be greatly appreciated: www.alz.org or Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011
