

Mr. Fred J. Dopfel, 90, died, Wednesday, November 16th, 2016, at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, in Marietta, Georgia. He resided at Atherton Place and was a member of the Lutheran Church of Incarnation in Marietta.
Mr. Dopfel was born on July, 7th, 1926 and raised in Queens, New York, where he met his future wife Marilyn in Sunday school. He was a Veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy as a Radioman onboard LST 307 (Landing Ship – Tank). He enjoyed electronics hobbies and attended Brooklyn Polytechnic where he studied Electrical Engineering. Most of his career was spent as a Manager at R.C.A. (Radio Corporation of America) in New York, Massachusetts, and Florida.
Mr. Dopfel is survived by his four sons: Alan Dopfel and his wife Kay of Framingham, Massachusetts; Frederick Dopfel and his wife Costanza of Kentfield, California; Bruce Dopfel and his wife of Belle Plaine, Kansas; and Glenn Dopfel and his wife Toby of Marietta, Georgia. He is survived by 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his his beloved wife, Marilyn and his brother Albert.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, November 21st, 2016, in the Chapel of Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home & Cemetery, 2000 Cobb Parkway SE, Marietta, Georgia, 30060. Entombment will follow on the grounds of Georgia Memorial Park.
