I had the pleasure of knowing George through our work at CBF where we served on the same team for a time. He was simply one of the hardest working persons I've ever known, completely devoted to those he served. I will always remember the Christlikeness with which he served, especially his remarkable patience with those around him. Grace and peace to all his family. I hope to make the memorial in September.

George was one of my best friends in life. It was an honor to serve with him in Vietnam. Our friendship started in Jyman training and continued all of our lives. I thank God for his life and witness for Christ.

George and I were part of the 1968 Journeyman group who trained together for 8 weeks. We all loved George and his dry sense of humor! His passing leaves a hole no one else can fill.

George was a saint, the best endorsing agent I have known. What a privilege it was to have him fly out and land on my Air Craft Carrier (USS THEADORE ROOSEVELT CVN 71) in my final days on active duty as the Strike Group Chaplain. As I greeted him shortly after he “caught the trap on the C.O.D. (carrier on Delivery- prop plane), he said, “Ron, wait right here a minute, while I go back to the plane to recover my teeth from the seat in front of me.” I recall his eyes the first morning after he arrived onboard. As I went to pick him up for breakfast, his eyes were huge with excitement. He was like a kid at Christmas. I laughed as he described having to sleep all night with ear muffs on his head as Jets took off above his head. I was beaming with pride to host my endorser, even more to host George Pickle. What a huge loss to us but a wonderful gain to heaven. Until we meet again shipmate, we celebrate your home going my brother!

I was in the sunday classe with dr Pickle at the Trinity Baptiste church in Saigon Viêt Nam . Mister Pickle taught us the Bible ,about God and was kind with the students and we loved Him for his kindness.
We are very sad to say good bye to you, dear teacher.

George has been such a long time family friend. He is one of the most sincere and loving persons that I have ever met. He spent lots of time at my parent’s home in Ft. Worth. I remember the first time he brought Kathy to visit. I remember visiting him and Kathy in Downey. I remember them being in Downey during the earthquake. As Mom and Dad aged George never passed up an opportunity to visit when he was in the area or passing through. To Mom and Dad, George was family. He loved so many so well. Our condolences to Kathy and Renee and Mackenzie and all the family. Dale and I hope to join you in September for his service. God bless. ❤️🙏

George, you were such a kind man, always there for people to lean on. You were a wonderful father to two beautiful daughters. You were a loving husband to Kathy. You relieved so many of their pain and given joy to many. You will be missed.

Dr. Pickle helped me get through some tough times, guiding with grace as I worked through some things. He was so kind, and he loved his family. Praying for peace and comfort for his loved ones.

I am saddened to learn of the death of our dear friend and colleague. George was a wonderful support to me as a NAMB chaplain and as I made the decision to change my endorsement. He was always welcoming and interested in me as a person and as a chaplain. He was a wonderful example of chaplains and the value of spriritual care. I will always value his friendship and cherish his memory.
