Wonderful memories Henry, of 
Fort McPherson.  I performed intake in the clinic when you were Chief.  You encouraged me to attend Emory University.  I fondly remember those days and the excellent professional relationships that developed.

Henry, you were always a standout member of our golf group and provided many memorable moments of humor and laughter.  While your golf game may have been suspect, you were always genuine and enjoyable to play with and be around.  You will particularly be missed on our excursions and cookouts.  May you rest in peace.

Henry, we will miss your smile and great sense of humor. I had the honor and privilege of playing golf with you many times and you were always the consummate gentlemen. I will miss our rounds together but I will never forget your kindness and wit. My deepest sympathy to Bonnie and your family.

We will miss you, dear neighbor and friend, but you have earned your wings.

Dear Henry,

You were a dear friend, mentor and colleague. Most of my memories of you go back twenty years before you retired in 2000. Before we met, your reputation preceded you as a "brilliant, brash psychiatrist/professor from New York." You certainly lived up to your reputation, and more. The "more" part includes a loving dear friend whose infectious laugh filled the hallways, and later the fairways, wherever he walked.  

My first memories were in your case conferences where we all sat in amazement that you could so easily filter through the complexity of all the details and understand the person and the process with such simple clarity. You had an amazing understanding of the human mind, and you were a master of language and reason as you shared your understanding. I knew you first as a teacher, and that would have been enough, but there was more. 

As the years passed, our friendship grew. You became a friend of our family, and Bonnie joined us to create many more memories of good times cooking, walking, camping and so much laughing.  You became an “uncle” to our daughter, who loved your playful spirit and your desire to explore and teach. A guided tour through your and Bonnie's backyard was a “semester” of botany. On camping trips you and Rachel would run ahead just to worry me about getting lost. You loved to tease, and even torment, my neuroses. In addition, you accepted, in good spirit, my observation of yours. 

After you retired, and I continued my career, we gradually lost touch, except for Christmas celebrations and occasional golfing. We were closest in the younger seasons of our lives, but I think you never lost that spirit of youth with any of the friends you made. I look forward to reminiscing the details of our relationship, and I expect much more laughter. I know your life was filled with joy and pain; success and failure. You did not always live good, but you certainly did live well. Mine is better for it. Thank you dear friend!

Henry, I was honored to call my friend and you will be missed.  I can see you now running up Seminole One fairway as a marker in the Member-Member Shot Out, or on the ECCGC excursions, particularly at the cook outs, where you always kept the party lively.  But, I never did understand why you were so dead set against letting all of us giving you any golf advice!  Henry, you will be long remembered and never forgotten.  I bet your old Jeep misses you too.

Henry, you were a friend to all who knew you. Your lilting laugh, your great sense of humor endeared all to feel honored to be in your company. Your ability to encourage and challenge those of us fortunate to share time with you is a blessing we are thankful to have received. Thanks for being my friend.
