

Henry Arthur Selvey, M.D., 73, of Marietta, GA, died on Friday, March 21, 2014. Dr. Selvey was born an identical twin, June 5, 1940, and grew up in South Nyack, NY. He earned a degree in Psychology from the University of Rochester where he was a member of the Alpha Delta Phi fraternity. Upon earning his bachelor’s degree, he attended Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City to obtain his M.D. in 1966. Two years as Chief of the Department of Psychiatry at Ft. McPherson Army Hospital brought him to Atlanta in 1970. Afterwards, Dr. Selvey then spent nearly 30 years in private practice until his retirement in 2000. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie B. Hartley-Selvey of Marietta, GA; step-daughter, Melissa M. Hartley of Sewanee, TN; son, Erik M. Light-Selvey of Elk Park, NC; and granddaughter, Alyssa Tate Selvey of Elk Park, NC. A memorial service will be held at The Episcopal Church of St. Peter and St. Paul, Marietta, GA, on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at 10am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association; The Episcopal Church of St. Peter and St. Paul, Marietta, GA; or Good Mews Animal Foundation, Marietta, GA.
