With hearts that are deeply broken, yet firmly anchored in the hope of Jesus Christ, we celebrate the life of Isaac ("Isy") Prem Nuthulapaty, who completed his earthly journey and entered eternal life through Christ on June 22, 2026, at the age of twenty-one.
Isaac was born on February 28, 2005, in Oakland, California, to Sujeet and Leena Nuthulapaty. He was, in every sense, a precious gift from the Lord—an answer to prayer entrusted to our family. He was given the middle name Prem in honor of his paternal grandfather, Premdas, whose deep love for his grandson was evident from the very beginning.
Soon after his birth, Leena lovingly gave him the nickname "Isy." To her, he was like a bright star shining in the night sky. Throughout his life, he truly lived up to that name, bringing warmth, joy, laughter, and light wherever he went. He was a beloved son, a caring older brother to Joveetha, and a treasured grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend.
During his earliest years, Isy was lovingly cared for by his paternal grandparents in India before reuniting with his parents in California. In 2007, the family settled in the San Francisco Bay Area, where Isy grew up in Richmond, Pleasanton, Dublin, and San Ramon. He attended Twin Creeks Elementary and Grandma's Academy, where he learned the "five magic words" that became part of the kindness, respect, and humility he carried throughout his life.
The Indian Community Church of the Valley (ICCOV) became much more than a church—it became family. There he formed lifelong friendships with Sarosh, Derick, Nihal, Rhea, Sneha, James, and many others. James and Isy shared a friendship much like David and Jonathan, while Rhea cared for him like a sister. Isy dearly loved Pastor John Sathri, affectionately known as "Uncle John," whose encouragement and spiritual care helped shape his childhood faith. He also treasured the time he spent with Uncle Chaitanya and Uncle Rakesh, who became important mentors and friends.
In 2011, Isy moved with his family to Marietta, Georgia. He attended Bells Ferry Elementary and McClure Middle School, where Aarnav became one of his closest friends at Bells Ferry, while Phoenix and Carlos became treasured friends during his McClure years.
These years awakened many of Isy's interests. He learned piano under Ms. Debbie in Acworth, played trombone at McClure Middle School, played basketball under Coach Will at Fair Oaks Community Center, and participated in drama productions at Piedmont Church. Even as a young boy, his quick wit, warm smile, and joyful personality made him someone people naturally loved being around.
One of the defining chapters of Isy's life began in 2018. At just thirteen years old, he left behind friends, school, and the familiarity of life in America to accompany his family to India as missionary kids. It was a tremendous sacrifice for a young teenager, but one he embraced out of love for his family and trust in God's calling. He found inspiration in the lives of Corrie ten Boom and David Livingstone, whose examples of faith and sacrifice deeply influenced him.
While living in Tuni and Visakhapatnam, Isy faithfully served alongside his family through the Nazareth Association for Social Awareness (NASA). He volunteered among families affected by HIV/AIDS and leprosy, participated in medical outreach camps, helped with safe drinking water projects, and spent time serving orphaned and vulnerable children. He never sought recognition. He simply loved people.
During those years, he completed his education through Abeka Christian Academy while continuing to grow spiritually through Bible studies led by Dr. David Housholder from First Asian Indian Baptist Church.
While in India, Isy learned to drive and quickly became an excellent driver. He developed a love for cooking, becoming remarkably skilled at preparing Indian food, and dreamed of one day owning a motorcycle and enjoying motorsports as a hobby.
When Isy returned to Marietta in 2023, he came home. He resumed his education, first at Georgia State University and later at Kennesaw State University, pursuing a degree in Computer Science.
He also discovered a love for the guitar under the instruction of Nehemiah at Bridge Music and found great joy in leading worship.
Returning to Georgia also meant reconnecting with people who had never forgotten him. At Chinna Manda Telugu Fellowship, friendships that had paused for five years simply picked up where they had left off. Stephen, Paul, Abhi, Ravi, Saatvik, Joel, Noel, Jonathan, William, Ethan, and Isaiah became like brothers once again, while Shishir became a close friend during this final season of Isy's life. Manjula Aunty loved and cared for Isy as one of her own, and through Yesu Oggu's Faith Foundations class, Isy continued to grow in his understanding of God's Word. His faith was further strengthened under the shepherding of Pastor Younis Farhat, whose love and spiritual leadership meant much to Isy and to the entire family.
Music remained one of God's gifts in Isy's life. Whether playing piano, trombone, or guitar, he loved using music to worship the Lord.
Some of Isy's happiest moments were around a table surrounded by family and friends. He loved cooking and grilling and could prepare almost every Indian dish with confidence. Tacos and pizza were among his favorites to make and share. For Isy, preparing a meal was another way of expressing love.
He also delighted in life's simple joys. He enjoyed Fortnite and Minecraft with friends, proudly collected Pokémon cards, Hot Wheels, and Disney Cars memorabilia, and had a lifelong fascination with automobiles. His playful personality was reflected in the nickname he proudly gave himself—"AwesomeIsaac." His YouTube channel, "Firy Phoenix 1976," was another reflection of his creativity and the value he placed on friendship.
If there was one thing everyone could count on, it was laughter whenever Isy was around. He was genuinely hilarious. His quick wit, perfectly timed one-liners, and spontaneous jokes could brighten any room. Long after the laughter faded, people remembered how he made them feel—accepted, included, and loved.
Yet beneath that joyful personality was an exceptionally gentle heart.
Those who knew Isy will remember his remarkable kindness. He was kind, patient, and never wanted to be a burden to anyone. If he needed something, he would ask quietly once or twice, but he would never insist or demand his own way. He was content to put others before himself, often choosing peace over conflict. Though naturally reserved and not always able to express the depth of his emotions with words, his love was unmistakable in his actions, his unwavering loyalty, and the quiet ways he cared for others. He possessed a rare tenderness of heart, a humble spirit, and a genuine kindness that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew and loved him.
Above all, Isy loved his family. He is lovingly remembered by his parents, Sujeet and Leena Nuthulapaty, and his beloved younger sister, Joveetha, whom he loved deeply.
He was deeply loved by both of his grandmothers. His paternal grandmother, Jyothi Kamala Kumari, faithfully prayed for him throughout his life, while his maternal grandmother, Deenalatha, cared for him with boundless love and devotion. She traveled from India to stay with the family in America on several occasions, cherishing every opportunity to spend time with Isy and her family. Their love and care became an enduring part of his life.
He shared a unique bond with his Aunt Arpitha, whom he affectionately called "Akka." He dearly loved his cousins Irene, Jeslene, Crissy, Glitty, Ashu, Abby, and Matthew, who were more like brothers and sisters than cousins. He was also deeply loved by Uncle Sony, Aunt Sowmya, Aunt Neelima, Uncle Raja, Uncle Silas, Aunt Hepsi, Aunt Hannah, and Uncle Daniel, together with his grandparents, extended family, church family, and countless friends across the United States and India.
Though Isy's earthly life lasted only twenty-one years, it was richly filled with faith, friendship, laughter, music, service, family, and love. Whether serving children in India, leading worship with his guitar, preparing meals for friends, making everyone laugh with his quick wit, or quietly caring for someone in need, he reflected the love of Jesus Christ in simple and unforgettable ways.
When Leena first called him "Isy," she imagined him as a bright star shining in the night sky. Through twenty-one precious years, that is exactly what he became. He brought light to his family, joy to his friends, compassion to those in need, and laughter wherever he went. Though our eyes can no longer see that light, we know it has not been extinguished. It now shines in the presence of the One who gave him to us in the first place.
While we grieve deeply, we do not grieve without hope. We rest in the promise of our Lord Jesus Christ, knowing that because He lives, Isy lives also. Until we meet again, we thank God for the priceless gift of our beloved son.
