

James William Daniels, (Jim), of Marietta, Georgia, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2026, one day before his 101st birthday. He was born on February 7, 1925, in Leasburg, Missouri, to the late Edna Mae Walker and James Henderson Daniels. His long life was marked by service, devotion to family, faith, and a deep commitment to education and community.
Mr. Daniels proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II, as a Seabee in the South Pacific. His military service remained one of the great honors of his life, shaping the discipline, resilience, and sense of duty that guided him in the years that followed. He daily lived out the Seabees’ attitude of “Can do”, with the grit of the Greatest Generation. He pursued a higher education, earning his bachelor’s degree from the University of Louisville and later completing his master’s degree at the same institution. He built a successful professional career working with the Ford Motor Company, where he was respected for his work ethic and leadership.
On November 24, 1945, he married the love of his life, Leona Locke. Their marriage was a lasting testament to partnership and devotion, spanning decades filled with shared memories and unwavering support. A faithful member of Shiloh Baptist Church, Mr. Daniels lived his faith daily through kindness, humility, and service to others.
He is survived by his beloved children, Danny (Lynn) Daniels, Lee (Linda) Daniels, and Wendy (Randy) Smith; 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and a wide circle of extended family members and friends who will cherish his legacy. James William Daniels will be remembered as a devoted man of faith who loved the Lord and willingly shared his faith with others. He was a generous and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His strength, wisdom, faith and gentle spirit will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.
A Funeral Service to honor Mr. James Daniels will be held on February 10, 2026, at 11:00am at HM Patterson Canton Hill Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for visitation immediately following the service.
