James Hudson May

He was born in Smyrna, GA, on February 4th, 1938, to Minnie Estelle and Fonzie Lee May. Jim attended Campbell High School before joining the US Marine Corps and then the US Army. He and his wife, Margit, married on February 4th, 1961 – smart man! Following his service in the military; he worked at Lockheed and then spent the rest of his career at Sears, Roebuck & Co.

Jim bravely battled through the difficult struggles of Alzheimer's, with the support of his loving wife, daughters, and niece, who were consistently with him. Though times weren’t always easy, he knew that he was loved and cared for by those closest to him and showed tremendous strength throughout it all.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Minnie and Fonzie, his siblings Fonzie “Jack” (Stella), Clyde Broughton (Elvis), and Bettie (V.A.). He is survived by his wife, Margit, and his two daughters, Yvonne and Bettina, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Services are as follows on Friday, July 24th; Visitation at 10 a.m. with Celebration of Life at 11 a.m. at Mount Paran Church: Walker Chapel (Mt. Paran Rd. NW, Atlanta, GA 30327); and the Committal graveside service following at 1 p.m. at Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery (2000 Cobb Pkwy. SE, Marietta, GA 30060).

Flowers may be sent to Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery before 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 23rd to be transported to the church. The family suggests donations to either Mount Paran Church: Church Ministries designated for the Music Ministry (www.mountparan.com) or to the Georgia Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Organization (https://donorservices.alz.org/) in honor of James May.
