James Harvey Parrish passed away at his home in Marietta, Georgia on April 25, 2018. Born on August 25, 1931, he was the son of Felix Harvey Parrish and Mabel Clara Berlin of Trumann, Arkansas. He was educated in Trumann and Blytheville, Arkansas and upon graduation enlisted in the Air Force where he served in Korea.
Following his military service, he attended Southern Arkansas University where he received a BBA in Accounting. Subsequently, he received an MBA from the University of Mississippi.
He and his family lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma and Conway, Arkansas where he coached for several years in the girls community softball league. He was also very active in the county humane society where he helped with many fund-raising events.
His hobbies included investing in unimproved land and stocks, fishing, sporting events, gardening and caring for his beloved pets.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lillian Cundiff Parrish; his daughters, Yvonne Parrish of Memphis, Tennessee, and Elizabeth (R. Scott) Lewis of Alpharetta, Georgia; granddaughter, Sarah Scott Lewis and grandson, Larson Parrish Lewis, both of Alpharetta, Georgia. He was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy Alene Parrish and his brother, Charles Gay Parrish.
The funeral service will be at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at 11:00 am. A reception at the church will follow the service. Burial will be at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Oxford, Mississippi. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you consider a donation to Johnson Ferry Baptist Church, The Salvation Army, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, or the Atlanta Humane Society.
