James Don Wilson was born in Durham, NC. He grew up in the city along with his twin brother and his sister. After graduating high school, Don enrolled in Georgia Tech, working his way through college and earning an industrial engineering degree. He went on to join the Air Force and later, for his own enjoyment, became a certified commercial pilot. After the Air Force, Don went to work for Lockheed-Martin. He was transferred to California where he lived most of his life working for Lockheed on the cutting edge of technology in the aerospace industry in a highly classified department known as Skunk Works.
Don owned over a dozen race horses that took up his leisure time. One of his favorite horses was Stylish Greeter, who won a lot of races. He retired after working 40 years at Lockheed and traveled the world going to such places as France and the Netherlands. He enjoyed meeting people in his travels throughout Europe.
Don came to faith in Christ as a child and served the Lord by helping those in need. He was a very generous man and loved his family. He moved back to the Kennesaw area to be close to his family in 2011. Don enjoyed living at Canterfield where he was well liked by the staff and residents.
