Janelle Kesler Vickery

Emily Janelle Kesler Vickery, age 86, of Winder, Georgia, died August 14, 2018, at Heritage Assisted Living in Marietta, after an extended illness. A native of Madison County, she and her husband Jerry spent most of their adult lives in Tucker, Georgia before moving to Winder, Georgia for their retirement years. Both moved into assisted living in Marietta, Georgia back in March.

Janelle attended West Georgia College before attending the University of Georgia where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. She worked as a paraprofessional at Midvale Elementary in Dekalb County for several years before retirement. She was a member of Winder First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her father, Roy Lee Kesler, her mother, Lurlene Griffeth Kesler, and six brothers, John, Truett, Billy, Donnie, Austin, and Buddy Kesler.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Jerry David Vickery Sr.; two sisters, Jane Bramlett (James) of Commerce and Deanie Cunningham (John) of Athens; one brother, Wendell Kesler of Columbus; and four children, Jerry David Vickery, Jr. of Lawrenceville, Amy Vickery Whatley (Tom) of Marietta, Frederick Vickery of Winder, and Todd Vickery of Atlanta. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Spencer Vickery of Lawrenceville; Emily Vickery of Los Angeles, California; Katherine Alexander (Josh) of Athens; Matthew Whatley (Kimberly) of Athens; and Tommy Whatley of Marietta; three great grandchildren, Laura Elliott and Courtland Alexander of Athens, and Arlo James Whatley of Athens (just ten days old at the time of her death); and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 25th, at 2:00pm, in the Chapel of H. M. Patterson & Son Funeral Home in Marietta, with Pastor John Talley officiating. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 1:00pm to 2:00pm.
