Born on August 14, 1951, to Clarence and Elva Brittain, Jean was the middle of three daughters, growing up alongside her older sister, Kay, and younger sister, Patricia. Jean grew up in Douglasville, GA and graduated from Douglas County High School. Jean lived in the Atlanta area her entire life and worked in publishing, home improvement, and most recently as an executive assistant.
Jean married Philip Reed in October of 1983 and together they built a full life and home over 30 years of marriage, raising their two children, Danielle and Cory Reed, until Phil's passing in April of 2014.
Following the passing of Phil, Jean was fortunate to find love again with her partner, Martin Lysaght. For the past ten years, Jean and Martin built a wonderful life together.
Jean, also known as Gigi to her six grandchildren, loved her family dearly and was a constant presence in her children and grandkids’ lives. She was a passionate and excellent cook, enjoyed Braves baseball, home improvement and spending time with her vibrant community of friends.
Jean is survived by her partner, Martin; her daughter, Danielle, and her husband, Robert, along with their children, Cooper (3), twins, Chloe and Caden (7 months); her son, Cory, and his wife, Caitlin, along with their children, Noah (7), Palmer (4), and Shepherd (1), and her sister, Patricia.
A Celebration of Life will be held to honor Jean at a later date and details are to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jean’s memory to Must Ministries.
