

Jennette Alford Rutledge, 94, went home to be with the Lord on January 1, 2022. Mrs. Rutledge was born in Rome, Georgia on May 26, 1927, lived most of her life in Smyrna, Georgia and had lived at Fellowship Home Assisted Living, Milledgeville, Georgia since 2018. She was the daughter of the late George and Mabel Alford, sister of the late Vernon Alford, George Alford and Betty Harrison. She married William Ty Rutledge on August 22, 1948. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1962 and by her daughter Beth in 1980. Jennette was an active member of Smyrna First Baptist Church and King Springs Baptist Church where she taught children’s Sunday School and other children’s activities. She was both a Cub Scout and Girl Scout den mother, and a dedicated worker at Bell Bomber, Lockheed and the Smyrna Post Office. Had she pursued her career of choice, it would have been as a florist. Jennette will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, “Aunt Sissy”, grandmother, great grandmother (Gigi) and loving friend. She touched the hearts of many and was a true blessing to all who knew her.
Survivors include her daughter Becky (David) Thompson, Monticello, Georgia; son Paul (Susan) Rutledge, Brentwood, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Brian Blalock, Monticello, Georgia; Amy (Dustin) Greene, Brentwood, Tennessee; Grant (Rebecca) Rutledge, Nashville, Tennessee; David (Kristen) Thompson, Jr., Alpharetta, Georgia; Laura (Daniel) Wright, Jeffersonville, Georgia. She had 14 great grandchildren.
To celebrate her life, there will be a Memorial Service at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 22, 2002, at Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home & Cemetery, 2000 Cobb Parkway SE, Marietta, Georgia 30060.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Jeffersonville Baptist Church, PO Box 218, Jeffersonville, 31044 in Memory of Jennette Rutledge.
