Jesse Joseph Atkins IV, was born in Columbia, South Carolina, on January 10, 1986. He was named after the man who became his favorite person on the planet, his granddad, Jesse Joseph Atkins, Jr. He attended Shallowford Falls Elementary, Hightower Trail Middle and Pope High Schools, as well as Chattahoochee Tech. For most of his adult life he worked in the home renovation and restoration business. He was a warm, joyful and loyal friend. He brought to everything he did in his life an energy and enthusiasm that was invigorating to be around. His sense of humor was constant and often a welcome relief in times of stress. He was a good man, and well loved by all of us who were lucky enough to know him.
He leaves behind his family whom he loved dearly-- his wife, Hannah Edelstein Atkins and their daughters, Madison Grace and Riley Glynn. He is survived by, and sorely missed by, his mother Helen McKinney, his father Gary Atkins, his sister Tori Atkins, his grandmothers Polly Atkins and Helen Smith, his step-father Myron McKinney, step-sister Lauren McKinney and step-brother Brandon McKinney, and Hannah's parents Diane and Steve Edelstein.
Friends and family are invited to gather at the home of Gary Atkins at 4359 Stockton Terrace, Marietta GA 30066, on Friday after the funeral.
In accordance with his wife's faith and heritage, the families will be sitting shiva and saying the sacred prayers for Jess on Saturday evening at 7:00 PM and Sunday evening at 7:30PM at her parents’ home at 711 Woodmont Dr., Marietta, Georgia 30062. All friends and family are welcome.
