Jewel Frances Bridges Holliday, age 92, of Moultrie, Georgia, passed away on October 7, 2018. She was born in Fountain Inn, South Carolina to Hauley A. Bridges and Bertie M. Henderson Bridges. She was the sixth of seven children. Jewell attended Draughon’s Business College in 1950 and worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for the Greenville News in Greenville, South Carolina. After meeting her beloved husband Roy Holliday, they were married on April 1, 1950 in Anderson, South Carolina. As Roy’s career took them to South Carolina and Georgia, Jewel also worked as a Bookkeeper. Most recently, they made their home in Moultrie, Georgia to be close to their loving family. Jewel was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers, Pearl M. Henderson Watson, Lula P. Schiffley, Lillian E. West, Justin A. Bridges and Calvin L. Bridges. She leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved husband of 68 years, Roy H. Holliday; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Paul Griffin; brother, Charles E. Bridges; granddaughters, Jenny and Clay Dell and Laura and Matthew House; great grandchildren, Caroline L. and James P. Dell; another great grandchild expected in Sydney, Australia to Laura and Matthew House; along with several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at 12:00pm in the Chapel of H.M. Patterson & Son—Canton Hill Chapel, in Marietta, Georgia. The family will receive quests one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at 3:00pm in Floyd Memory Gardens, in Rome, Georgia.
