Jimmy graduated from Auburn University in 1986 and worked in the banking and finance industry for 25 years before finding his true passion in sales. He started a business with his life-long friend, Steve Plier and sold automotive parts until he retired in 2024.
Jimmy loved all Auburn sports, especially football. He was a season ticket holder for decades after meeting his wife Lydia at an Auburn football game. Lydia and Jimmy were married for 42 years, and they loved watching the waves at the beach, taking cruises, and cheering on the Auburn Tigers together. Jimmy was a loving father to their two daughters, Kathryn and Julia.
Jimmy was an active member of the Glorifying God Sunday school class at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church. He participated in many of the adult choir activities and enjoyed traveling with his daughters for the student choir trips.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, David and Kathryn Simpson. He is survived by his wife, Lydia; his daughters, Kathryn Jane & Julia Brackin; his siblings, David Edward Simpson (Kathy), Karen Simpson Johnson (Vince), Elizabeth Simpson Tidwell (Mike), and Thomas Keith Simpson (Theresa), as well as many nieces and nephews.
A service will be held at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church in the Sanctuary on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at 11:00am with a visitation at 10:00am.
